Situated in rural Renfrewshire, close to Bridge of Weir and just a short drive from Glasgow Airport, the Old Course Ranfurly - not to be confused with Ranfurly Castle - is a terrific place to play.

Its 18-hole championship golf course was designed by the acclaimed James Braid and, in addition to offering a superb moorland test, provides magnificent views of both Ben Lomond and the Campsie Fells.

For many, the par-3s are the real stars on this course. There are five to choose from, with the redesigned fifth - named 'The Covert' - arguably the best of the lot.

Sandwiched between two of the three par-5s, it has a green that is beautifully framed by trees, with a burn lingering out to the tree for any shots pushed in that direction.

All in all, tremendous fun.
