Whinhill Golf Club in Greenock is a fine moorland layout set above the town with glorious views over the River Clyde. The setting, which also includes views overlooking the rolling hills of the vast local countryside from the majority of the holes, provides a stirring backdrop to a thoroughly enjoyable round.

The course may be sometimes overlooked in favour of the town's more famous neighbour, the Greenock Golf Club, but Whinhill stands on its own as a true golfing test. And the challenge begins right on the very first hole with a testing 187-yard par-3 opener. The bigger hitters will find this course great fun, with no par-5s and a number of reachable par-4s.
