Greenock golf course was redesigned by the renowned James Braid in 1924 and it is doubtful whether any of today's course architects could make better use of the land. Not long by modern standards at 5,850-yards, Greenock is no pushover as its tight fairways and small undulating greens will test players at every level.

The terrain is semi-moorland, with many tree-lined fairways and the odd burn and bunker to punish the slack shot. The seventh tee affords one of the best views from any course in Scotland, with the course taking full advantage of the glorious views over  the River Clyde, Ben Lomond & The Trossachs. Greenock is also Inverclyde's only 27-hole golf club, with a nine-hole "Wee Course" also hugely popular and offering a completely different test.
