The Gleneagles King's Course is the former home of the Scottish Open and is still regarded by many as the No.1 course at what has become one of the leading golf resorts in the world.
Created by the legendary James Braid, the King's Course was opened in 1919, since when hundreds of thousands of golfers have fallen in love with both it and the surrounding scenery. A moorland course, it requires good course management from start to finish, with many of the holes becoming known throughout homes all over Britain in the Seventies and Eighties through the BBC's popular 'Pro-Celebrity Series'.
The 14th, for instance, is a short par-4 where an accurate tee shot can glean a rich reward while the closing hole, a par-5 where the tee shot is played towards a huge saddle in the middle of the fairway, is another gem.
