Longside Golf Club has a small and charming 18-hole course, just a short drive from Peterhead on the outskirts of Longside village in Aberdeenshire.
The course first opened in 1979 and extended to a full 18-hole venue in 1996, with subtle changes making this a fun, varied golfing test for players of all abilities. Longside is an inland parkland course that plays to a relatively short 5,251 yards from the back tees. It is flat, easy walking layout which has the River Ugie running through it, which acts as a punishing natural water hazard.
The signature hole is the longest hole on the course, the par-5 eighth. Those laying up after an accurate tee shot will need to negotiate a ditch, while the river must also be negotiated with your third. Longside is a fine golfing test that will not necessarily reward the big-hitters, but the best strategists and most accurate players will thrive.
