Nike VR Forged Pro Combo irons

Nike VR Forged Pro Combo

It’s the minor details that make Nike’s new VR Forged Pro Combo irons better than its predecessor and help to serve up a winning combination of precision and workability.

Designed to deliver higher ball trajectory, forgiveness and enhanced sound and feel, these new irons are purposefully crafted as a progressive set for the better player. They feature a pocket cavity in the three, four, five and six iron that allow for a higher trajectory to give softer landing shots while the seven iron through to pitching wedge have a forged split cavity that is designed to give a more penetrating ball flight.

Our Tour athletes wanted higher ball flight and better gapping in the long irons

Based on feedback given by their athletes, Nike added polymer into the pocket of the long irons that was often referred to as “shot-making gel”. The addition of the polymer came about due to feedback they received from tour players and consumers. While they enjoyed the higher, faster ball flight it gave them, they said the feel was not as solid as they would have liked it to be. The result was a pure sound and feel at impact, similar to that of the found in a traditional blade or split cavity, with the benefit of long iron forgiveness and more ball speed.

“Our Tour athletes wanted higher ball flight and better gapping in the long irons,” said Tony Dabbs, Nike Golf global product director of golf clubs. “We added the polymer to create a Tour-calibre set with long irons that are easier to hit, and players still see the profile they want at address without compromising on look, feel and sound.”

These irons are available from November 1 at a cost of £599.99 and the stock specifications are 3-PW with a True Temper DG Pro shaft.
