• Rich Beem won his only major in the ’02 PGA Championship
• He is playing with new PXG clubs this week
• The American is using an old Scotty Cameron Bulls Eye putter
The 45-year-old, who memorably beat Tiger Woods to win the 2002 PGA Championship at Hazeltine, has completed a bag overhaul this week with his putter really catching the attention during the first two rounds in New Jersey.

It may look like a putter you use when playing crazy golf, but it is in fact an old Scotty Cameron Bulls Eye Blade Tour putter he is using this week instead of his newer Scotty Cameron model.
Describing his putter switch to the Golf Channel, Rich Beem said his Bulls Eye has a sweet spot ‘the size of a gnat’s ass’. His reasoning behind the change was simple. Beem discovered that if he played the ball off the toe and made an aggressive stroke, he was seeing putts roll in with ‘shocking consistency’.
Some fans had their own thoughts on Rich Beem’s putter choice…

Due to his current role as a full-time commentator on Sky Sports’ PGA Tour coverage, Rich Beem doesn’t get the chance to play much competitive golf.
In fact, prior to this week, Rich Beem hadn’t played a competitive shot since last year’s PGA Championship. It comes as little surprise that he decided this week would be a good time to get some new clubs with all of the major gear manufacturers in one place.
Rich Beem reached out to PXG’s tour rep Matt Rollins to order a set of the company’s clubs. He had been friends with Joey Sprayberry, PXG’s senior tour technician, while he was a regular on tour and he was keen to try PXG’s equipment.

The surprise came when he was landed with a bill for $2,800.
“He gave me a bill, he tried to run my credit card and my credit card was so maxed out that it didn’t go through,†a laughing Beem told the Golf Channel.
“I owe a big, big thank you to PXG” – Rich Beem
“I didn’t know how much it was going to be and I went back to him and begged and pleaded. I said, ‘Man, I’ll do anything to pay you’. He approached me on Tuesday and he said, ‘Don’t worry about it. It’s taken care of.’â€
“Thankfully the charge didn’t go through because I would have had a hard time explaining that bill to the wife. I owe a big, big thank you to PXG.â€
For the first time since 2012, Rich Beem made the cut at the PGA Championship. Ahead of his third round, he lies in a tie for 61st place position with a score of one-over par.
