Big players were in action in both the WGC-Bridgestone and the French Open this week and plenty of them were testing out the newest equipment, as well as making preparations for the upcoming Open Championship at Royal Troon.

Last week we told you how Justin Thomas had changed his Titleist 915 driver for a new prototype Titleist 917 model.

This week, Thomas bombed a drive 413-yards off the tee with it.

Jimmy Walker was another who switched to Titleist’s 917D prototype driver at Firestone.

Kiradech stacks up putter cool points

Reigning Paul Lawrie Matchplay champ Kiradech Aphibarnrat was playing in the Bridgestone Invitational this week and he was spotted using an Odyssey ‘Custom Shop’ #7 model.

Specially designed for the Thai golfer, it looks the business.

And he has this as his Odyssey putter headcover.

Tinker man Phil is, well, tinkering…

Phil Mickelson is known for constantly making changes to his equipment and last week was no different.

While Lefty wasn’t making any immediate changes to the clubs in his bag, he did make a visit to the Callaway tour truck and was spotted talking changes with the brand’s tour staff. Keep your eyes peeled.

Tour pro clubs ‘worth £25k’

You may well be familiar now with Scottish golfer Scott Jamieson’s Twitter argument with Air France after they offloaded his clubs from an Edinburgh to Paris flight he was on, before proceeding to lose them.

Well, what this saga has given us is an insight into just how much tour pro gear actually costs, with one of Nike’s European Tour fitters suggesting he submit an insurance claim for the new gear he had to build Jamieson as a result.

Did you know tour pro clubs were worth this much? We didn’t either.
