To mark #BackToTheFuture Day yesterday, where social media went crazy in celebrating the date Marty McFly travelled to in the 1985 film, the shoes are modelled on McFly’s attire in Back To The Future II – but we’re not entirely sure they’d be suitable for the golf course…
At least not yet anyway, as Nike have said the line is ‘just the first iteration’, suggesting more pairs could be released in the future. As for getting your hands on a pair, it could be a tough ask as no release date has yet been confirmed, nor whether they’ll even be available to the public. All that has been said is that the shoes will be auctioned off in spring 2016, with the money raised going to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.

“We started creating something for fiction and we turned it into fact, inventing a new technology that will benefit all athletes,†said Nike president and CEO Mark Parker. “By imagining the future, we create it. Product that comes alive, with on-demand comfort and support when you need, product that senses you and adapts to you is right around the corner.â€
As part of #BackToTheFuture Day, Fox was presented with his very own pair of Nike Mag shoes and took to Twitter to show them off to his 62,000 followers in a tweet which received more than 17,000 retweets and 14,000 favourites, highlighting the sheer popularity of the classic film to this day.
