Also known as Turbot Golf Club, Portmahomack was founded in 1909 and sits in a beautiful little seaside village in the North of Scotland, with great views of the Dornoch Firth and Moray Firth.

It is a classic seaside nine-hole links course and an ideal starter before tackling the better known courses nearby such as Royal Dornoch and Tain. It is anything but a walkover, however.

A number of holes have sufficient armoury that could easily see you reload, whatever the weather. A fine example is the par-4 8th, which has been known to destroy a few score cards thanks to its elevated green and tricky approach shot.

The undulating seaside nature of the course makes it thoroughly enjoyable, though, and being so close to the 'North Coast 500' means it is in the ideal spot for golf fans on this famous travel route.
