Course Description

Located on the Chanonry Peninsula in the "Black Isle" our Scottish links golf course enjoys breathtaking views over the Moray Firth, only 20 minutes from the City of Inverness. Fortrose & Rosemarkie Golf Links is the 15th Oldest Recorded Club in the World (1793). The course was re-designed by the five time Open Champion James Braid in 1932.

Playing on one of the finest links golf courses in Scotland is a must for your golfing calendar, especially as we are so close to other distinguished links in the area, such as Royal Dornoch and Castle Stuart.

The course has received accolades such as "a gem of a course by the sea", "perhaps the best jewel in the highland golfing crown" and "a unique course with special character to be found nowhere else". The course is open every day of the year and we welcome golfers from all parts of the globe to play at this fantastic links course.

The greens are not just fast but also deceptive, with tight fairways and strategically placed bunkers throughout the course - the trademark of the all-time master of bunkering, James Braid. Currently measuring 6085 yards in length this is a course which has played host to no fewer than TEN national championships since 2010 and we will continue to do so in the future.

Whilst here you can play from the YELLOW (Shorter), WHITE (Club Competition Tees) or BLACK (Championship) tees – the RED tees are for the Ladies to play from. The White tees for the Gents will provide a really good experience as we play most of our club competitions from these sets of tees but the choice is your own to make on the day. There is no problem if you wish to play from the Black Tees but it will make it slightly more difficult for the higher handicapper.

Fortrose & Rosemarkie Golf Club attended the Scottish Golf Tourism Awards which were held down at the Turnberry Resort at the end of 2017 and again in St. Andrews at the end of 2018 where we were presented (as voted for by the public) with Scotland’s Best Golfing Experience (value for money) Award. We were also short-listed for the best golf course in Scotland 2019.

The Luxury Travel Guide Lifestyle Awards have also honoured us with the accolade of Golf Club of the Year for Scotland for 2018. We can promise any golfing party visiting here this season and indeed in the future the best golfing experience as the staff who work with me are fantastic at what they do. They go that extra step to ensure that members and visitors who come here, enjoy their day as much as possible and that their visit here is a memorable one.

Fortrose & Rosemarkie Golf Links is ranked as No. 34 in the Top 100 Fun Golfers to Play in Great Britain and Ireland (with over 2,000 courses in GB & I) and we are ranked amongst the Top 50 Golf Courses in Scotland for 2019 (Golf World Magazine).

At the end of 2021, we were awarded with an Outstanding Service Award by the International Association of Golf Tour Operators for the efforts we made on behalf of visitors/golfers during the pandemic.
