Italy’s Donnafugata Golf Resort and Spa registers impressive increase in bookings in 2014.
FANCY sampling a little bit of Italian magic? Then look no further than the Donnafugata Golf Resort and Spa.
The reputation of the deluxe Sicilian venue is growing at a record rate amongst travelling UK golfers, with more having been taken than ever before in a calendar year - and there’s still plenty of time left in 2014.
The latest figures announced by Donnafugata demonstrate that its popularity in the UK golf market is at a new high, with bookings up by 52% on the corresponding period last year.
The resort is already 17% ahead of the total number of room nights booked by golfers for the whole of 2013 and, with numbers projected to grow at a similar rate for the rest of the year, end-of-year bookings are expected to have increased more than six-fold in the last two years.
This exciting news come hot on the heels of the resort receiving a double nomination for the inaugural World Golf Awards, which will take place in double nomination at the 1st World Golf Awards, which will take place in Portugal in November.
It has been shortlisted to be named as Italy’s Best Golf Resort in 2014, while its renowned Links Course, designed by Italian Franco Piras, is among the nominees to be voted Italy’s Best Golf Course in 2014.
Guy Roberts, director of golf, said: “The booking numbers we’ve already taken for this year are tremendously encouraging.”
Featuring two 18-hole championship courses, as well as extensive practice facilities, Donnafugata Golf Resort and Spa has won widespread acclaim across the golf industry since opening in 2010.
It was also the venue for the 2011 Sicilian Open on the European Tour, won by Frenchman Raphael Jacquelin.
