Trump Turnberry is regularly ranked as one of the top golf resorts in the world thanks to its proactivity and refusal to rest on its laurels.

Following the resort's major investment and renovation in 2016, it has continued to seek to improve its experience for guests and has once again done so with course updates over the winter period.

"Over the winter we have gone in and made enhancements across all of the courses," director of golf Ricky Hall explained to our sister title, bunkered.

"For us, it's about finding those improvements that are going to make the playability of the courses that bit better. We are not resting on our laurels and are continuing to invest in the property."

All three of the courses at Trump Turnberry continue to evolve. The resort's Open Championship course, the Ailsa, has undergone extensive maintenance on its bunkers and tees, while an emphasis has been placed on improving the King Robert the Bruce.

"The eighth was a bit of a challenge for guests. It was a blind tee shot and forced you a little right of where you should ideally be. You couldn't properly see the landing area, which got you into a bit of trouble. We have added a metre-and-a-half on to the teeing ground and moved the bunker slightly left to give you a full view of the landing area. It's completely changed the appearance of the golf hole."

The team at the resort have also done something similar at hole 11, having reshaped the fairway line and removed a bunker, while increasing the size of and relocating another bunker to add to the playability of the track. The level of detail that is ploughed into the maintenance of the courses is something that Hall and his team are extremely proud of.

"The type of maintenance that we have carried out doesn't happen across every golf course every winter, so that's something that we are delighted with. We are lucky enough to have owners who support us and realise the importance of continuing to evolve."

As well as the courses, not to be forgotten at Trump Turnberry is the state-of-the-art Golf Academy, which celebrates its 20th birthday in 2020. The academy provides a combination of world-class practice facilities, cutting edge technology and expert PGA professional tuition to ensure an unforgettable experience for all golfers.

"The academy has everything you can think of. We have got TrackMan, putting lab, putting studio, custom fitting, we've got everything that a golf academy would want. It's firmly part of our overall experience here at the resort and it's something we are extremely proud of."

To allow guests to experience the courses, including the nine-hole executive Arran course, and Golf Academy, the resort have a long list of golf events for 2020, with Easter and summer camps also available at the Golf Academy.
