Top global gong for Els Club TelukDatai

The Els Club TelukDatai, Malaysia, is celebrating after being voted as the ‘Best International Golf Course’ at the International Property Awards in Dubai.

The club, which only opened in October, was designed by Ernie Els and has been constructed on the beautiful island of Langkawi.

“The International Property Awards are so highly regarded in our industry, so to receive this accolade, having only had our grand opening recently, is incredible recognition of the hard work that has gone into the design and construction of this course,” said David Townend, Els Club Malaysia senior vice president.

“This is another proud moment for us. To have this coveted award to add to our trophy cabinet, alongside those already received, is fantastic and affirms our belief that the Els Club TelukDatai is truly exceptional.

“The praise we have received will open the eyes of golfers across the globe to the unmatched quality of the Els Club TelukDatai and Malaysia as a golfing destination. I look forward to welcoming them in the near future.

The stunning layout sits amidst tropical rainforest to the shores of the Andaman Sea, and it scooped the coveted accolade voted for by golf travel executives and members of the media.

TunkuDato’ Ahmad Burhanuddin, managing director of DRH, expressed his joy at the new award.

He said: “We are delighted that so many property industry professionals share our views on what a spectacular property the Els Club TelukDatai truly is. Langkawi is arguably one of the true Asian treasure troves of island destinations and now boasts a golf course that is receiving as much acclaim as the award-winning hotel.”
