Ryder Cup Set For Golf Show

ORGANISERS of the Scottish Golf Show have revealed the latest pre-book ticket offer for this year’s show at the SECC from March 22-24. Book your tickets in advance, at just £15, and you will receive your ticket to the show as well as three free rounds of golf at your choice of ten courses - plus a season pass to the 2013 Johnnie Walker Championship at Gleneagles, won last year by Scotland’s own Paul Lawrie.

In addition to the pre-ticket offer, it has been confirmed that the famous Ryder Cup trophy will be on display at the show once again. Its appearance at the 2013 Scottish Golf Show is appropriate given that it will next be contested on Scottish soil, at Gleneagles in 2014, where Paul McGinley and Tom Watson will lead the European and American sides respectively.

Show organiser Tom Lovering said the lure of seeing the Ryder Cup up close will catch the attention of many golfers across the country.

“Like most golf fans the world over, I was glued to the action at Medinah last year and was stunned and delighted by the European team’s brave final day fightback.

FAMOUS
“That incredible recovery demonstrated just how much this famous trophy means to those who contest it and so to have it on display at the 2013 Scottish Golf Show is a major boost as the clock ticks down on our return to Glasgow.

“We were already confident that the 2013 show would be one to remember and today’s news has further affirmed that belief.

“I’d encourage every golfer in the country to come along and take this unique opportunity to see the spoils of the ‘Miracle at Medinah’ up close.”

Mike Cantlay, chairman of VisitScotland, said: “In less than two years time, Scotland will welcome the world when we host one of the most exciting sporting events on the planet as the Ryder Cup descends on Gleneagles.

“The last event at Medinah truly captured the imagination for its sheer drama and whetted the appetite further for what we hope will be the best ever Ryder Cup in 2014.

“I’m delighted that the trophy at the centre of it all will be on display at the Scottish Golf Show and will help build pride and excitement among Scottish golf fans.
“VisitScotland is a long-time supporter of the Scottish Golf Show and I hope the appearance of the Ryder Cup trophy will add to what already promises to be a terrific event for golf fans.”

With more of the golf industry’s leading brands on display at Glasgow’s SECC, even
more interaction and dozens of exhibitor stands representing the entire cross-section of the industry, the 2013 show promises to be an unmissable experience for any keen golfer.

SHOWCASE
This year’s show features more of the game’s biggest brand names than ever before and each one will give you the chance to try their new products for 2013.
Mizuno, Yonex, Cobra, Titleist, Callaway and Ping will all be at the show. They will be joined by the likes of Lynx, Odyssey, TaylorMade and John Letters.

There are 29 indoor driving bays where you can give the new products a test drive, so to speak and, if you like them enough to put them straight in your bag, you can then buy them there and then at the show in the huge retail golf shop, operated once again by Europe’s No.1 golf retailer, american golf.

There will also be custom fitting opportunities if you want your clubs tailored to suit you, whilst Titleist, the No.1 ball in golf, will even be offering a golf ball fitting service, which will include their new Pro V1 and Pro V1x balls.
