Greenkeepers at National Golf Centre are making the most of club’s investment in machinery
The greenkeeping team at Woodhall Spa Golf Club says the arrival of its new T603 tractor from TYM towards the end of last year has been ‘a big hit’.
Owned by England Golf and home to the National Golf Centre, the club boasts two magnificent courses, with its Hotchkin Course rated among the finest heathland layouts in the world.
Its world-class reputation is maintained by courses manager Sam Rhodes and his team of highly skilled greenkeepers, who have been putting the new tractor to good use.
“We have 14 guys that use it here and they all really like it, which is the important thing,” said Rhodes. “The TYM has been in action on both courses throughout winter, mostly aerating the fairways.
“It’s the biggest tractor in our fleet and it bosses the job. It has all the features of other brands, but is better value for money, the build quality is excellent and it’s also operator-friendly.”
A robust 60 horsepower model, the T603 TYM tractor features a 50-degree turning angle, which offers great manoeuvrability, and an open ergonomic cab, providing comfort for the operator. Three sets of hydraulic remotes also enable a wide range of applications to be carried out on the golf course.
As well as being pleased with his tractor purchase, Rhodes also said he found both local dealer Chris SellarsGroundcare and Lely UK great to work with throughout the who process.
He added: “We have all-Toro machines here at Woodhall, which we also got from Lely and Chris, so it’s great dealing with the same supplier and dealer for our tractor needs.
“They know how we work, and we get great loyalty and service from them with a long-term relationship. If there are any issues, we know they’ll be on hand straight away.”
