Membership rise at Highlands golf club

ELGIN GOLF CLUB has announced a significant increase in membership over the last year

ELGIN GOLF CLUB has announced a significant increase in membership over the last year, moving away from the trend of the decline across the rest of Scotland.

The club noted a rise in all four categories of their membership in 2018: male, female, junior and youth.

The work on and off the course has paid dividends and club manager Barbara-Anne Rumbles believes even a club as old as Elgin, formed in 1906, can move with the times.

"We were on the outskirts of Elgin before, but people are coming to us now," she explained. "It needs to be more inclusive to the environment we are in. The ladies totally love the environment in the club and the social aspect as well.

"A big thing was to say my door is always open, so that members and visitors could feel that they could come in at any time."
