Lyle Achievements to be Celebrated

TWENTY-FIVE years after he memorably became the first Briton to win The Masters, Sandy Lyle will rightly collect a Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2013 Scottish Golf Awards.

On what promises to be a truly special night at Glasgow’s Hilton Hotel on Friday March 1 next year, Lyle - one of the game’s most celebrated golfing figures - will be honoured before an anticipated sell-out crowd at the showpiece event, joining winners from all levels of Scottish golf.

The 54-year-old Scot will take centre stage to recall his famous triumphs across a magnificent career, most notably his 1985 Open win at Royal St George’s and his 1988 victory at Augusta, where his famous 7-iron from the bunker on the 18th set up a winning birdie and his jig of delight.

BATTLES
Lyle will also reflect on his five Ryder Cup appearances, having helped Europe to a first victory on US soil in 1987, and his battles with Seve Ballesteros, Sir Nick Faldo, Bernhard Langer and Ian Woosnam as one of Europe’s ‘Big Five’ during the 1980s.

Lyle, who follows Sam Torrance, Colin Montgomerie and Paul Lawrie in the ‘Hall of Fame’, will mingle with guests, golfers and other sporting stars during a glittering evening that raises money for the development of young golfers - our next generation of winners.

Tickets go on sale soon, with tables priced at £800 for ten guests, while individual tickets can be purchased at £85 each for a package which includes a fourcourse meal, wine and glass of bubbly on arrival. The event is open to all, providing a great night out for you and your golfing friends or for
companies wishing to give their clients a sporting night to remember.

MEMORABLE
Other awards will include the Scottish Golfer of the Year in a memorable season which has included victories for a number of the country’s male and female tour professionals, the amateur game’s Order of Merit presentations and recognising the game’s grass roots with the RBS Junior Club and Volunteer Awards.

There will be an abundance of entertainment on the night, with some superb prizes also available
in the auction and raffle. Look out for more information on www.scottishgolf.org or you can follow the SGU for updates on Twitter @SGUGolf or via Facebook. To book your place at the 2013 Scottish Golf Awards, please call 01334 466477.
