A TEENAGER has been ordered to hand over his pocket money after causing criminal damage at Kirriemuir Golf Club.
Aaron Steele, who was 15 at the time, set fire to a golf flag and damaged a toilet at the Angus club last year, according to The Courier.
Steele pled guilty to a charge of vandalism and was ordered by the judge to raise the £280 by April to compensate the club and pay the costs of the damage he caused – even if that means sacrificing his pocket money.
“My temptation was to give you a community payback order, to show that the damage you did must be paid for in some way,” said Sherriff Gregor Murray.
“But I will defer sentence for six months … to earn some money to pay compensation to the golf club for what you did.”
Defending solicitor Nick Markowski had earlier remarked that Steele had been at the club with a group of his pals. “This was born out of immaturity,” he said.
