SCOTLAND'S highest golf course has received a huge funding boost to help it buy cleaner course machinery to improve its sustainability.
Leadhills Golf Club, located 1,500ft
above sea level, will receive almost £100,000.
Half will come from Greencoat Capital Andershaw Windfarm, and the other half will be from Clyde Wind Farm.
There are around 40 windfarms in the area, collectively contributing around £1million to the local community.
The money is being donated as the farms are part of South Lanarkshire Council's Renewable Energy Fund.
Local councillor Robert Brown said the money would help attract visitors to the village.
"The club endeavours to improve the vitality of Leadhills and the rural villages surrounding it," he added.
