\'Best Experience\' search underway

Calling all members of the Scottish golfing public - voting is open for 2015 Scottish Golf Tourism Awards

This year’s search for ‘Scotland’s Best Golf Experience’ is underway. The award, voted for exclusively by golfing visitors in Scotland, aims to give recognition to the Scottish golf club that makes the greatest impression and provides the best overall day out for visitors both domestically and internationally.

Previous winners of the award include Trump Turnberry Resort, Machrihanish Dunes and, most recently, Kingsbarns Golf Links.

This year’s recipient will be unveiled at the 2015 Scottish Golf Tourism Awards, due to take place at the Fairmont St Andrews Resort in St Andrews on Friday, November 13.

Scottish Golf Show organiser Tom Lovering was delighted to help launch this year’s voting process and said that he fully expects this year’s winner to continue the fine tradition of recent recipients of the award.

HOSPITALITY

“Scotland’s Best Golf Experience has made a fine habit of identifying the golf clubs that really do go the extra mile to give their visitors a day to remember for all the right reasons,” said Lovering.

“Scotland is fortunate to have well over 500 golf clubs and facilities, each of which offers three of the things that the country is famous for around the world: great golf, great hospitality and great experiences. I have no doubt that this year’s recipient will again demonstrate all of those qualities and be a worthy addition to what is already a fantastic roll call of winners.”

The award is run in conjunction with VisitScotland, whose chairman Mike Cantlay was on-hand to help Lovering launch this year’s voting process.

He said: “We already know that Scotland is the Home of Golf and can boast many of the best courses anywhere in the world but that alone is not enough to keep enticing visitors to come back to our golf clubs.

“This award is about recognising those clubs who go above and beyond in providing a world-class experience to visitors right from booking their tee time to leaving the clubhouse after their visit.

“Golfing tourists, whether they are from Scotland or further afield, are playing an increasingly important role in the viability of golf clubs across the country and it is vital that clubs recognise this and commit to offering the best experience possible for all visitors.”
