It was reported last month that hugely popular Belleisle and Seafield courses, along with Maybole, Dalmilling and Girvan, were facing the threat of closure as a result of cost-cutting measures. However, the budget decision from the council means that all of the layouts are to remain open for business. The positive news for golf in Scotland comes weeks after it was revealed that Glasgow City Council are to close five of its six municipal courses. The budget report shows that there are provisions in the budget to increase green fees at some of the South Ayrshire Council courses by 10% and applying an increase of 5% to the cost of golf season tickets.
