Airth-based facility still going strong 30 years later

When Stewart Craig, Head Professional at Forthview Golf Range, opened his facility located in Airth, situated between Stirling and Falkirk, he did not expect to be entering an expansion programme some 30 years later.

We opened the range in 1995 with 16 practice bays and then in 2000 we added four private bays and a teaching bay," said Craig.

"The main turning point came in 2018 when we introduced Toptracer Range Technology. Toptracer not only traces the path of the ball and supplies the golfer with all the information they need to improve, it can also gives them virtual access to some of the world's best known golf courses. You can play virtual golf at the Old Course St Andrews or Pebble Beach amongst others."

Craig said the concept of the driving range experience has changed in that time – and for the better. "The range used to be a place where you would come to practice or learn, but now it can be more of an overall experience for golfers of all levels."

As the facilities at the range have developed and, as such, become even busier, an American Golf retail outlet is also onsite with the familiar offerings a golfer would expect including custom fit.
