A new way to play golf in winter

The Smart Mat allows you to play your normal game during the winter months

Golf’S Smart Mat is fast become a favourite among winter golfers after a successful launch last year with the product uptake being much higher than anyone in the company expected.

The product itself offers a terrific solution to the old winter mats and conflicting preferred lies rules and the positive R&A ruling about the use of both the fairway and teeing grounds had a massive impact upon its success.

The Smart Mat is so slender that the ball rests just a few millimetres above the fairway turf and allows you to draw or fade the ball without altering your natural summer stroke and swing arc. Its flexibility works with the natural cushioning of the turf beneath to deliver that satisfying ‘dibot sensation’.

New interest is coming from club handicappers who see the Smart Mat as a rule conforming, cheat proof, preferred lie solution enabling them to finally create a level playing field for all players..

Alastair, from West Lothian, said: “I can honestly say I have never enjoyed winter golf as much as when I recently tried out Rocket Launcher. From tee, fairway or for chips around the green, the feel from the club was tremendous.”

Dick, from Belfast, is another advocate of the quality of the product on offer.

He said: “The product is fantastic, I kind of wish I had invented it myself. The way it has changed my outlook on winter golf is immeasurable, from when I used the old astroturf mat that would fly around 20 yards down the fairway unless you fixed a few tees into the thing.

“I am 25-years-old and play off a handicap of 10. I totally agree with the statement regarding the feel and response of the mat.”
