Golf Courses in Glasgow

When taking into account the hustle and bustle of Glasgow and its surrounding area, you may be surprised to hear of just how many courses of genuine quality the region holds.

An incredibly underrated area, a warm, early evening round high up on a hill with the shimmering city lights in the distance is quite spectacular.
The oldest golf club in Glasgow is also generally considered its best. Despite its name, Cathkin Braes is a relatively flat moorland which opened in 1888 before being redesigned by prolific architect and five-time Open champion James Braid.

Also highly regarded is the Championship Course at Cawder, another Braid special featuring Scotland’s very own ‘Amen Corner’, with holes 13 to 16 going some way towards emulating the iconic cluster of holes at Augusta National, while Haggs Castle on the city’s Southside is a fine layout that has been host to a number of professional and amateur tournaments through the years.

And with an unrivalled nightlife, golfers will always enjoy a trip to Scotland’s largest and most lively city.
