TaylorMade Tour Preferred irons

TaylorMade

It appeared that TaylorMade’s R&D department had shifted into top gear for most of 2013 as they churned out a lot of new gear throughout the year, and it appears they’ve started 2014 in the same manner with the launch of three new irons favoured for highly skilled players; Tour Preferred MB, Tour Preferred MC and Tour Preferred CB.

First up in TaylorMade’s latest line of irons are The Tour Preferred MBs. These irons are muscleback blades that are classic in shape and have been forged from soft carbon steel. They have a thin top-line and minimal offset at the request of the tour pros that were consulted. They must work too, as Dustin Johnson put them straight into play at the Hyundai Tournament of Champions.

The Tour Preferred MC irons are for the players wanting the balanced mix of feel, workability and stability. TaylorMade’s Speed Pocket features in the 3-iron through to 7-iron and these irons boast a shallow muscle cavity, to boost MOI. The shorter irons have more compact heads with minimal offset.

Finally, TaylorMade are launching the Tour Preferred CB irons. With a fully-fledged cavity back that gives the head the look a blade at set-up, the Tour Preferred CB’s have ‘micro-slots’ for in the 3-iron through to 7-iron that help give faster ball speeds across the face and higher launch for more distance.

“We don’t believe you can call yourself a great iron company unless you create irons that great players want to play. Irons that meet a tour pro’s requirements for look, feel, sound and workability,” said Sean Toulon, TaylorMade’s executive vice president.

“That’s why these clubs bare the name Tour Preferred. The head has to look right from every angle. The leading edge and sole have to react a certain way with the turf. We’ve taken each of these things into careful account to make these irons especially appealing to better players.”

TaylorMade Tour Preferred irons availability
