Ping i25 family unveiled

We may only be two days into 2014, but Ping has announced what is shaping up to be one of the biggest product launches of the year, in the form of the new Ping i25 family of clubs.

Built for golfers of all ability levels, the i25 family features a line-up of woods and irons designed to offer a combination of distance and forgiveness.

The i25 driver and fairway woods all have an alignment aid with a difference. Ping has introduced its patented racing stripes on the crown that are the same width as a golf ball, giving a visual aid for aiming the clubface and your body towards the target.

“Our constant push for innovation continues to inspire technologies that help every type of golfer play better,” said John A. Solheim, Ping chairman and CEO. “The new metalwoods and irons carry a common theme of increased distance but are engineered with the improved consistency, forgiveness and geel that we design into all Ping clubs.”

The multi-material Ping i25 driver has been designed to give the perfect conditions for distance and accuracy from tee by helping to reduce spin while increasing the launch angle.

The adjustability comes from the Trajectory Tuning technology, which allows the standard loft to be moved up or down 1/2-degree.

Like the driver, the Ping i25 fairway woods are also adjustable to the same range, and when combined with the stainless steel heads, they’ll show you exactly why there is so much hype around them.

The taller face and extremely thin perimeter design helps to increase ball speeds for more distance and versatility in shot making, while the internal weighting ups the MOI for accuracy.

Hybrids complete the Ping i25 metalwoods and they offer the ideal replacement for those long irons. The combination of a straighter lead edge and more squared-off toe helps to boost accuracy and alignment, while the reduced bulge and roll aids shot making and control.

Forgiveness and distance are key characteristics of the Ping i25 irons. Made from 17-4 stainless steel, they offer a level of control that inspires confidence in your shot making ability.

The long irons are designed with head sizes and sole widths that deliver high trajectory and extreme forgiveness, while the more compact mid and short irons have narrow soles and less offset for enhanced accuracy and scoring.

A narrow face stabilising bar in each of the long irons works to increase balls speeds for added distance and height while wider bars in the short irons give a more controlled, lower ball flight with softer feel.
