• FootJoy Pro/SL is its first new shoe for 2017
• It has already proven popular with pros
• Over 50 players on top two tours have been wearing them
The FootJoy Pro/SL has proven extremely popular on both the PGA Tour and European Tour since it was first seen at Royal Troon during this year’s Open Championship, with players including Lee Westwood, Adam Scott and Andrew ‘Beef’ Johnston already wearing them in tournament play.
Bringing a sleek new look, the FootJoy Pro/SL combines a soft, comfortable, waterproof upper with its Fine-Tuned Foam (FTF) to give better comfort, more perimeter stability and improved traction.
FootJoy’s FTF technology is 10% lighter than conventional EVA foams and is said to give ‘more cushioning and shock absorption’ for extra comfort on the course.
It is used in three layers in the FootJoy Pro/SL, each helping to improve the performance of the shoe. The top layer of FTF sits directly beneath the foot and provides the cushioning you can feel when you first slip your feet into the shoe.
‘I tested FootJoy Pro/SL initially in the very dry, hard conditions of Chambers Bay then in the soft, wet conditions at St Andrews and the traction was fantastic on both surfaces’ – Adam Scott
The second layer of FTF is firmer to give more stability around the edges of the shoe and more support as you swing.
The final layer has been placed within the outsole material to give the added traction, stability and more contact with the ground.
“I tested FootJoy Pro/SL initially in the very dry, hard conditions of Chambers Bay then in the soft, wet conditions at St Andrews and the traction was fantastic on both surfaces,” said Adam Scott.
“I also felt like my feet had more surface contact with the ground and for a longer time during my swing, so competing in this shoe is a no brainer.”
