Established in 1890, the club has moved to the present course in 1906 and was the first 18-hole course in Clackmannanshire. After some initial construction, the club secured the services of Ben Sayers to complete the task of laying out the course. It was Ben Sayers who decided that due to the nature of the terrain bunkers would not be required, which is still the case today.
There have over the years been alterations to the layout but 12 of the holes are more or less as originally laid out. The signature hole is regarded as the 97-yard second, featuring a blind shot to an elevated green. Failure to reach the green can be costly.
