The course at Largs is rather unusual in that, although it is situated on the coast, it has all the features of a fine inland parkland course. Whilst not being a long course at just over 6,100-yards, it calls for good course management.
The 386-yard par four ninth is a beautiful hole, complemented by Kelburn Castle, yet is also one of the trickiest on the course. A long tee shot is required to get into position for another long shot to the green. The burn comes into play after a short drive, when the golfer is faced with the question of "going for it" or laying up short of the burn. The split-level green deserves to be treated with respect as the borrow running through it is anything but obvious.
Situated on the Firth of Clyde with spectacular views over the Isle of Cumbrae towards the Isle of Arran, this course is popular with visiting parties, many of whom return year on year.
