Locally known as 'Carmuirs', Falkirk Golf Club is a parkland course in the centre of Scotland within easy reach of Glasgow, Edinburgh and Stirling.

Measuring just over 6,000 yards, it is full of variety, making it one of this region's hidden gems. Recent renovations to the clubhouse have added to the old-school feel and it's a classic, that's welcoming on the inside and out.

It isn't the most demanding golf course, but many of the holes throughout are blessed with a number of hazards that make no two holes the same. With narrow fairways to kick off the front nine, they have a risk-reward feel.

The par-3 seventh and 11th holes run alongside the railway line and the latter, in particular, has a sloping green at the other end of a ravine that players walk through to reach the other side. Take care to avoid the burn which separates the 14th and 15th holes, and you can take advantage of some good scoring opportunities.
