West Kilbride is a traditional, seaside championship links course of 6,548 yards with 7 of the original 9 holes designed by Old Tom Morris still in play. The 18 hole course was improved on two occasions by James Braid. It enjoys a wonderful setting on Ayrshire's coast looking over the Firth of Clyde with some fine views of Arran, Bute and Ailsa Craig. It is within 20 minutes drive of the prestigious Open Championship layouts at Royal Troon and 1 hour fromTurnberry. The Scottish Boys and British Senior Ladies O[pen Amateur Championships were hosted in 2010. When the wind picks up it can get increasingly difficult when it comes to club selection, but that's just part of the attraction of playing a great links course.
