One of the best nine-hole golf courses in Scotland awaits visitors to Tobermory.

Located on the stunning island of Mull - the second largest of the Inner Hebrides - it began life in the late 19th century as an 18-hole course before being reduced to nine holes in the mid 20th century... and it's all the better for it!

The views are spectacular, taking in Tobermory Bay, the Sound of Mull, Morvern, Loch Sunart, Ardnamurchan and, on a clear day, the hills of Rhum and Eigg. As more than one local has been heard to say, be careful not to spend too much time gazing out at the scenery; it can add several strokes to your score!

That's because the course itself is a serious test. Until 2015, nobody had ever - ever! - broken par there. Get anywhere close to it and you'll be doing very well indeed.

The charm of the experience is completed by an Honesty Box that takes payment at the first tee.

This is golf done right.
