Located in Broxburn, just off the M8 motorway near Livingston and only six miles from Edinburgh Airport, Uphall bills itself as "the most progressive golf club in West Lothian" - and when you consider the improvements that have been made there in recent times, it's a hard point to argue.
The club has invested significantly in drainage to bring the course up to USGA specifications which, in turn, has allowed it to stay open when other courses have been forced to close due to adverse weather conditions. This, aligned with its progressive approach to junior golf, has made it a great place to be a member.
For visitors, the course is a terrific test that shows its teeth from the start courtesy of a 404-yard par-4 opener that plays into the westerly wind. If you can get your round under way without having dropped a shot, you'll be doing very well indeed. Highly recommended.
