Kilspindie is the 35th oldest golf club in the world and, is a traditional Scottish links course, one that is extremely highly regarded.

It is certainly not a long course, such is its age, but for the club's historic appeal alone, it's well worth playing. It was founded in 1867, but it's reported that Mary Queen of Scots played golf on land close by as early as the 1560s.

At less than 5,500 yards, longer hitters can overpower this course, but that doesn't make it easy, with all the characteristics of links golf making it a challenge. Several holes border the shore, so you can expect wind to play a part here.

There is only one par-5 on the course, and it actually opens with a par-3, which measures just under 170 yards. For those who like their history, this is a must-visit.
