Sitting five miles north of Aberdeen center off the A90, Murcar's championship links course frequently features in the top 100 ranked courses in the British Isles and over the years has hosted many national amateur championships and professional tournaments.

It's sister course, however, the nine-hole Strabathie Course, offers a superb pre-round warm up and at around 2,700 yards, isn't too demanding on the legs.

There are a few tight holes that will prepare you for the championship course, although Strabathie is great fun in its own right and its nine holes are well worth the visit. The nine-hole setup features the usual links traits, given its pot bunkers and bumpy fairways,  but it is certainly a more relaxed layout.

A burn runs through the course, separating the start and end of the round, which flirts between true links holes and others that are slightly softer to ease the challenge.
