Carrick Knowe is a par 70 parkland course in the heart of Scotland's capital, between Murrayfield Rugby stadium and Edinburgh Zoo.
The course has undergone remodelling and the front nine holes have been constructed to USGA specifications, bringing the older layout right up to date for a cracking round of golf.
Two of the signature holes here are the par-four 373-yard second and the short par three 15th. The second hole requires a straight tee shot to a flat area in front of some punishing bunkers, and the second shot has to carry over some more bunkers if you want to find the green. The 15th, meanwhile, requires a steely nerve to attack the green or succumb to any one of numerous bunkers.
With Edinburgh Castle in the backdrop, this course is a solid shout for a game when in the area.
