Dating back to 1906, Elgin is widely (and rightly) regarded as one of the finest inland courses in the north of Scotland.

Situated in the heart of Moray and Speyside, it is kept in immaculate condition all year round and boasts jaw-dropping views over the town with which it shares its name, as well as the Moray coast to the north and the hilltops of the Cairngorm mountains to the south.

What began life as a nine-hole course was extended to 18 in 1924 and, ever since, the course has gone from strength to strength.

There's truly not a weak hole on the course but the absolute pick of the bunch must be the par-3 15th, or 'Lime Kiln' as it's known locally. Just under 190 yards from the back tees, it requires a tee shot played from an elevated tee over a grassy quarry to a green that is well protected by bunkers and bushes. Word of warning: don't go long. A steep bank at the bank of the green will punish any over-zealous player.
