Renowned for two fantastic courses, the Medal Course and the Ashludie Course, it was no surprise that Monifieth was asked to be one of the Final Qualifying courses for the Carnoustie Open in 1999.

The Ashludie Course offers a more compact, but still challenging test of golf, where an accurate short game is essential and at just over 5,000 yards, it offers a different outlook to other top courses in Scotland.

Originally laid out by James Braid, the Ashludie is a truly entertaining design combined with wonderfully kept greens and fairways to make every shot matter and there will be an array of those needed.

It's super value at any time of the year and while the front nine is great, the back nine really picks up, as the 13th and 15th holes stand out. The former is played to a plateaued green, while the latter is a dogleg par-4, where a strong drive will be rewarded.
