Opened in 1987 by Sir Henry Cotton and widely acclaimed as one of the premier courses in Scotland, the Old course provides a blend of tree-lined parkland and open rolling fairways.
A constant yet never extravagant feature is the intelligent use of water on 13 of the 18 holes. The Old has gained a reputation as one of the toughest inland courses in Scotland and, with a par 73, water featuring on most holes and measuring almost 7, 000-yards from the back tees, this reputation is justified. The stand out holes are the eighth and the 10th. The eighth hole is a 160-yard par three which is all carry over water and has been compared to the 12th at Augusta National. The 10th is a tricky par four with an elevated tee and a tough second shot over water to the green. Visitors Welcome GREEN FEE KEY: £1-£15=£ £16-£30 = ££ £31-£50 = £££ £50+ =££££ |
