Mauritius is the tropical land for golf

With excellent golf courses and the scenery to match, consider Mauritius for your next break.

A tropical island in the middle of the Indian Ocean is quickly gaining a reputation as one of the best up and coming destinations for golf in the world. Aside from its clear water and white sandy beaches, the island boasts a number of fantastic golf courses that have turned Mauritius into a golfer’s paradise.

Mauritius sees more sunlight than almost anywhere else in the world which is perfect for nurturing brilliant golf courses as well as almost guaranteeing you sunshine on your golf break. Home to seven excellent courses, Mauritius recently picked up the International Association of Golf Operators’ award for Golf Destination of the Year - Africa, the Indian Ocean and Gulf States.

One to add to the ‘must-play’ list is the Peter Matkovitch-designed Le Golf du Chateau - Bel Ombre Heritage Golf Course. Attached to the Heritage Le Telfair Golf and Spa Resort, it is situated in the heart of the unspoiled south of Mauritius. Offering superb views across the Green Mountains and the Indian Ocean, it stands at 6,400 metres in length and course will tempt you into playing some more risky shots from the tee as you look to gain an advantage. It also features an exciting variation in hole design.

The layout of the course is both challenging and varied, helping this course quickly become a popular choice for visitors coming to Mauritius on a golfing break.

There are plenty of top quality courses to be enjoyed elsewhere on the island as well with the likes of the Els Course at Anahita that features many of the Big Easy’s personality traits in its design. The Bernhard Langer designed Aux Certs Golf is considered as the most spectacular on the island and definitely one to visit.

If you think it all sounds too good to be true then get in touch with GolfKings to see how you can experience it for yourself.  The Glasgow-based company are dedicated to providing a wide range of good quality golf holidays at competitive prices and are always looking for new venues and ideas for your next golf trip. Saving you time and money while using their local knowledge to tailor the right package for your needs, there is no-one better to organise your trip to Mauritius.
