Golf In Glasgow

When taking into account the hustle and bustle of Glasgow and its surrounding area you would probably be surprised to hear of just how many courses of genuine quality the region holds. This area is perhaps the most underrated of all the six regions that make up Scottish golf. A warm, early evening round of golf high up on a hill with the shimmering lights of Glasgow in the distance is quite spectacular.

Cawder has two courses to offer, the first being designed by the great golf architect James Braid. This course is home to Scotland’s very own ‘Amen Corner’, with holes 13 to 16 going some way towards emulating the iconic cluster of holes at Augusta National. If that sounds like too much of a challenge, the Cawder Keir course is also highly recommended. It nestles between the River Kelvin and the club’s 18th century clubhouse, and is a great but fair game of golf.

Haggs Castle on Glasgow's Southside is one of the city's finer challenges and has been host to a number of professional and amateur tournaments through the years.

In Glasgow, accommodation is easy to come by and the nightlife is famed all over the world for obvious reasons. Golfers, therefore, will feel right at home.

On your visit to Scotland, it was be a huge mistake not to take the opporunity to combine the great golf on offer here with Scotland’s largest and most lively city.
