Cathkin Braes is a delightful moorland course in Rutherglen, around seven miles from Glasgow Airport.

The original nine holes were set out in 1888 with extensions made in 1905, while improvements were made years later on the advice of James Braid.

Those changes are still evident in today's setup and something that will never get old are the views. They are superb with Ben Lomond, Ben Ledi and Ben Venne located to the north, the valley of the Clyde to the west and the hills of Arran in the distance.

The course is fairly flat, though there are some tricky holes to contend with, namely the par-3 fifth, where you must overcome a loch to find a tight green. Cathkin also has a ten-bay academy for anyone looking to brush up their game.
