After World War II had decimated Willie Fernie's original nine-hole course which had stood since 1906, James Braid was tempted out of retirement by Stranraer Golf Club for one last job.

This picturesque parkland track is situated on the shores of Loch Ryan, creating beautiful views that perfectly accompany the golf course.

With just one par-5 on the scorecard from the longest tees, players will need to navigate a series of long par-4s to put together a respectable score round here.

One of those is the signature, Corunna, a 397-yarder played from an elevated tee that looks out over the Irish Sea towards Ailsa Craig. An absolutely thrilling hole.
