Williamwood Golf Club was established in 1906 by a group of 16 Glasgow-based businessmen and, today, it stands proud as one of the finest clubs in the south of the city. A fantastic parkland 18-hole layout that is always kept in immaculate condition, Williamwood was designed by James Braid, the five-time Open champion and esteemed golf course architect. Like so many of the prolific designer’s courses, Williamwood rewards accuracy over length, brawn over brains and good course management over unwavering pin-seeking. The second hole is an absolute treat. A relatively long par-3, trouble lurks on both sides from the tee to the green in the shape of trees and spectacle bunkers, so nothing other than a true, straight shot will suffice.
