A parkland course just over a mile south east of the town, Hamilton throws up a worthy challenge to all golfers.

It is an 18-hole course that stretches to 6, 243 yards with a par of 70 and if have fancy having a go at setting a new course record then by all means try your best, but you might find the current score of 62 hard to beat.

The fairways are reasonably generous in width and there are tight bunkers dotted around here, so those who like to take the driver, be warned of the risk-reward appeal.

Widely regarded as one of the best in Lanarkshire, that stretches past both the course itself, as the tradition and scenery standout.

Founded in 1872, Hamilton has undergone renovations over the years, lifting its stature and bolstering its strong reputation.
