This is where golf in the West of Scotland started, way back in 1787. Founded by a group of Glaswegian merchants and serving army officers, Glasgow Golf Club is known for its rather private way of doing things, rather like Muirfield.
Nevertheless, it is a wonderful test of golf and easily one of the West of Scotland's finest courses. Visitors can usually only play the course as a guest of a member and any chance to do so should be taken quickly, for this is as satisfying a course you are ever likely to play.
