Located just a few miles from Glasgow City Centre, Cathcart Castle is one of the oldest courses in close proximity to Scotland’s largest city. Established in 1895, it enjoys an enviable setting high above the city, affording magnificent panoramic views of the skyline and the rugged countryside away in the distance. The signature hole is the third, a 564-yard, par-5, aptly named Devil’s Elbow, a downhill dog-leg with two burns crossing the fairways in different places, whilst the green slopes back-to-front and is heavily bunkered. The low handicap player may choose to take on the corner from the tee and could be rewarded with a chance to reach the green in two shots. In keeping with the rest of the course, it’s tough but fair.
