Alloa Golf Club is home to 18 holes of parkland golf. Set beneath the Ochil Hills, this venue is one of the best layouts in the area.

The opening hole is an excellent short par-4, where players should pick out a spot in the imposing hills behind the green, before hoping to catch the downslope to get close to a small green.

One of Alloa's best holes is the short par-3 eighth. Played through a valley of trees, this features a long and narrow green, with several different ledges meaning you could be faced with a tricky putt.

The round finishes with a brilliant par-5 followed by a difficult par-3. The 17th is a hole that's reachable in two, but beware of a burn that runs in front of the green. Meanwhile, from the back tees, the 18th hole plays around 200 yards to a very small green. It's a very testing closing hole.

This James Braid designed course is certainly an enjoyable one.
