Kilbirnie Place is a beautiful parkland course in the west of Scotland. It compensates for its lack of length, 5, 500-yards, with some very tricky greens and natural hazards, including the Jocks Burn that winds its way through the opening and finishing holes.

After a fairly hard first three holes with a carry of around 150 yards needed to to reach the fairway on each, you come upon the fourth, which has a narrow fairway with out of bounds on both sides with the ruins of Place castle overlooking the green.

The last hole is a 145-yard par-3 with a burn before the green and out of bounds if you are too long off the tee. Many a scorecard has been destroyed here, despite the short length of the hole.
